Who we are
Meskot Education is a charitable nonprofit organization registered in Ethiopia and the United States. Ethiopia CSO Registry No. 5476 | U.S. EIN: 38-4273390.
This policy covers meskot.org and the information Meskot Education receives through it. Meskot Education is responsible for that information. For any question about this policy, or about your information, write to info@meskot.org.
When you visit the site
You can read every page of this site without an account, and we never ask you to sign in.
Like any website, the service that hosts the site receives technical information when your browser asks for a page: your IP address, your browser type, the page requested and the time. It is used only to deliver the site and keep it secure. We do not use it to identify you.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own, and uses no advertising, tracking or analytics cookies.
So that you can give from any page, our donation provider's checkout script loads on the site. It may use cookies or similar storage to run the checkout securely and to prevent fraud.
Our video lessons are on YouTube. When you follow a link to them, YouTube's own cookie and privacy policies apply.
When you give
Online gifts are made through our donation provider's secure checkout, which opens on this site. Your payment details go to the provider and its payment processor; Meskot never receives or stores your card number.
We receive what we need to record and acknowledge your gift: your name, email address and, where you give them, your postal address and phone number, with the amount, the date and whether the gift is monthly. The provider's own privacy policy applies to the information you give it.
If you give by bank transfer in Ethiopia, we receive the details your bank sends with the transfer.
When you write to us
If you email us, or write to express interest in volunteering or partnering, we receive your name, your contact details and what you write. We use them to reply to you and to follow up on what you asked about.
Newsletters and donor updates
If you sign up for our newsletter, we use your name and email address to send it to you. If you give, we may also email you updates about Meskot's work and how gifts are used.
Every email has a link to unsubscribe, and you can also write to info@meskot.org. We send these emails through an email service that handles the list for us and does not use it for anything else.
How we use information
- To reply to you, and to follow up on volunteering or partnership.
- To record and acknowledge gifts, and to send receipts.
- To send our newsletter to people who sign up for it, and updates to donors about the work their gifts support.
- To keep the records the law requires of a charitable nonprofit in Ethiopia and the United States.
We never sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only with the services that help us do the work above, such as our donation provider and our email service, and when the law requires it.
Where it is kept, and for how long
Meskot works in Ethiopia and the United States, and the services we use may store information in other countries. We take reasonable care to protect the information we hold, but no way of sending or storing information online is completely secure.
We keep records of gifts for as long as tax and accounting rules require, and other messages for as long as we need them to reply and follow up.
Photographs
The photographs on this site show Meskot's work in Tigray. If you appear in one and would like it removed, write to info@meskot.org and we will take it down.
Your choices
You can ask us what information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it or delete it, by writing to info@meskot.org. If you no longer want to hear from us, tell us and we will stop. We will answer within 30 days.
Children
This site is for adults who want to learn about or support our work. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page with its date.
