Planning the Offline Learning Corner at Adikentibay

In May 2026, the Meskot team walked the grounds of Adikentibay Complete Primary School in Shire with the school's leadership, to plan the Adikentibay Offline Learning Corner.

Adikentibay Complete Primary School in Shire is a large school, with children from Shire and from families displaced from their homes. Much of the teaching happens in temporary learning spaces, rooms of corrugated iron in the school grounds, and the classes are large.

This is where Meskot is preparing its first Offline Learning Corner, the Adikentibay Offline Learning Corner: a room where about 100–150 children will watch Meskot's video lessons in Tigrinya in small groups, with printed worksheets and a local teacher who follows each child.

In May 2026, the Meskot team walked the school grounds with the principal and deputy principal, to plan where the corner will stand. It needs a room where small groups can sit and watch the lessons together, close to the classrooms the children already know.

The corner will run without internet. Lessons play from USB drives on a television, and new lessons arrive when the drives are updated. The teacher keeps records of attendance and of which lessons are used, so Meskot can see what works and improve it.

Meskot plans the corner with the community, the school and the digital library of the Tigray Development Association's Shire branch.
